Stethoscope
Purpose: Accurately and reliably detect heart and lung sounds for use in pre-primary healthcare diagnoses.
Description: A commercial-off-the-shelf stethoscope head integrated with an electric microphone sensor in order to obtain and record heart and lung sounds through LabVIEW.
Purpose: To accurately weigh infants and small children in order to monitor weight loss/gain.
Description: Two boards that are hinged together will apply a force onto a strain gage when a weight is applied on the top board. This change in strain will provide a measured weight.
Purpose: To weigh adults and small children
Description: Average strain will be measured by a strain gage sensor which will be converted to weight.
Description: As a weight is dropped through a cylinder, the IR reflective sensor at the bottom obtains the distance which can then be transformed into a flow rate. This in turn generates a known volume of air for the spirometer.
Sphygmomanometer
Purpose: To accurately measure the patient’s systolic and diastolic blood pressures
Description: A pressure sensor inside the cuff detects the change in pressure as the valve is opened, releasing pressure in the cuff
Pulse Oximeter
Purpose: Measure the saturation of Oxygen in the blood
Description: Two pieces of plastic hinged together and attached to the table Sensor on one side of plastic and light sources on opposing side
Temperature Sensor
Purpose: To measure body temperature
Description: A thermistor embedded into a headband measures the temperature of the temporal artery as the thermistor resistance is converted to temperature via LabVIEW
