Business Model

Currently, Mashavu is not a legal entity because it is still in the research and development stage. The envisioned plan for Mashavu is to be a non-profit functioning as a for-profit. Mashavu will have non-profit status, but will receive income through the kiosk operations. Initially our target customers will be community organizations such as orphanages, community centers, churches, and clinics.

Based on collected data, we are very confident in the possibility of designing inexpensive biomedical devices to make the Mashavu system affordable for our customers. With a target manufacturing price of KSh 9,276 (~$120), our target selling price is KSh 15,460 (~$200). After purchasing a kiosk, the owning organization will charge a small fee for every patient who visits the kiosk. This fee will be divided among the kiosk owner, the doctor and Mashavu.

Payment Structure:

Service Patient Receives Payment Amount Amount Earned By:
Doctor Mashavu Kiosk Owner
Receive Feedback from Doctor KSh 100 KSh 30 KSh 20 KSh 50
Receive Numbers Only KSh 30 0 0 KSh 30

This payment structure will allow kiosks to earn a profit and continue to serve customers. Mashavu’s goal is to reach as many individuals as possible which makes steady expansion essential for Mashavu. Through partnerships with various organizations Mashavu will be able to experience continuous growth. Outlined below are Mashavu’s growth projections for its first five years on the market.

  • Year 1
    • Mashavu will continue to find and build relationships with various organizations.
    • Mashavu will solely rely on external donations.
  • Year 2
    • The partnerships built throughout Year 1 will help Mashavu establish 25 fully-functioning kiosks.
    • These kiosks will begin to earn Mashavu revenue and valuable medical data.
    • Mashavu will continue to rely on external donations, in order to have the amount needed to manufacture and distribute kiosks.
  • Year 3
    • Over the next year, Mashavu will double its amount of kiosks to 50. This will create more opportunity to bring in revenue and valuable data.

    • By this time, Mashavu will have valuable medical data documented from its efforts. This will offer Mashavu the opportunity to sell this data to corporations which can use it for their business projections.
      • At the end of Year 3, Mashavu would have earned enough revenue from the sale of medical data to achieve the goals of Year 4.
  • Year 4
